Mother’s Union, Women’s Guild and Girls Guild
Within the Diocese of Lagos (Anglican Communion) is the Women’s & Girls’ Organizations made up of Mothers’ Union, Women’s Guild and Ladies/Girls’ Guild under the leadership of the President, Mrs. Oluranti Ademowo, Mama Lagos. In Our Saviour’s Church, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Isemede is the Parish President.
MOTHERS’ UNION
The Mothers’ Union is a world-wide organization which promotes the well-being of families based on Christian teachings. It was founded by Mrs. Mary Sumner in 1876 in the United Kingdom but was introduced in Nigeria by late Mrs. Abigail Oluwole in 1908. On 25th March, 1988, the first batch of Our Saviour’s Church Mothers’ Union members under the leadership of Mrs. A. Akinola were enrolled by Mrs. E. O. Adenuga and admitted by Most Revd. Abiodun Adetiloye.
Membership is open to all baptized, confirmed and married women whose marriages were blessed in church.
Colour Code is White and Blue.

Purpose, Aim and Objectives
(i)Purpose: To be specially concerned with all that strengthens and preserves marriage and Christian family life.
(ii)Aim: The advancement of the Christian religion in the sphere of marriage and family life.
(iii)Objectives: To uphold Christ’s teaching in the nature of marriage and promotes its wider understanding. To encourage parents to bring up their children in the faith and life of the church.
To maintain a worldwide fellowship of Christians united in prayer, worship and service. To promote conditions in society favourable to family life and the protection of children.
To help those whose family life has met with adversity.
Meeting Days
Every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month
Venue: Our Saviour’s Church Chapel Extension
Time: 4.00p.m. prompt
Achievements
(i)Spiritually: The spirituality level of our members is on the increase due to constant study of the Bible and prayers at meetings.
(ii)Attendance at meetings: More members now attend meetings due to benefits derivable from Bible Study, prayers, fellowshipping together, health talks, contemporary and enlightening talks.
(iii)Charity: We conduct charity days twice in a year at which food items, toiletries, beverages, clothing etc are distributed to the needy within and outside our church.
(iv)Link Churches: We will continue to stretch hands of fellowship to our 2 link churches financially and materially.
A vicarage has been built at St. Andrew’s Church, Bogije to the glory of God.
Other projects will be carried out there in 2012.
(v)Care for the widows and needy: Some needy widows in our church are given a stipend every quarter and at Christmas – both cash and food items are given to them. Some of our members with financial constraints towards rent, their businesses etc are assisted from the Widows’ Welfare Fund set up in 2009 by Mrs. Oluwatoyin Isemede to which many members of the congregation have contributed.
(vi) Scholarship: We will continue to pay school fees of N100,000.00 annually for Segun.

WOMEN’S GUILD
The Women’s Guild is an important arm of the Women and Girls’ Organization of the Anglican Communion. It is for baptized female members of the Church from the age of 25. The Women’s Guild raises Women of virtue who will not only be good Christian Mothers but also raise Godly children.

Our meetings come up every Wednesday at 4.00p.m. and the venue is usually the Chapel extension unless otherwise directed by the President. Our achievements so far include:
1. Organizing periodic Charity days for the less privileged, widows and people in need.
2. Organizing program mes that increase our spirituality.
3. Organizing program mes where we learn different skills e.g. tie and dye, hat making, bead making, how to carry out a Christian marriage engagement ceremony;
4. Visiting the sick, either in hospitals or homes and the widows.
5. Lectures on practically every health issue that affect women and Children.

GIRLS’/LADIES GUILD
The establishment of the Girls Guild in the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) was muted in Lagos at the Second General Meeting of the Women’s Guild representatives in 1923. The Women’s Guild having been established in 1921, it was deemed fit by Mrs. Melville Jones (the then President) to carry along the girls; hence, “The Girls Guild”, which is a fellowship of unmarried Girls and Ladies within the Anglican Diocesan Communion with the Women’s Guild as the umbrella Guild.
Aims And Objectives
1. To lead members to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour
2. To teach members the truth as stated in the Bible and be doers of
the Word
3. To teach members obedience to parents, teachers and authorities
4. To make Bible reading a regular habit
5. To prepare all members for Holy matrimony as led by the Spirit of God
6. To teach morals, etiquette and uprightness as Girls and Ladies who
will become the Christian Mothers of tomorrow.
Meetings are held every Sunday at 11a.m. At the Chapel Extension.
