FRIDAY BIBLE STUDY – MARCH 23, 2018
THEME FOR THE YEAR: “UNLIMITED RICHES OF GOD’S GRACE”
TOPIC: Benefits of Justification.
TEXT: Romans 5: 1-11
AIM: To appreciate the blessings that accompany justifications and comprehend more fully the grace offered through our Lord Jesus Christ. Introduction Justification is God’s free gift which comes in a package which is received by the believer at the moment of salvation. In our text today, Apostle Paul wants us to open up this package and see some of the benefits and blessings that are in it. First, there is peace with God , this is what that relationship will look like now that we have been reconciled to the Father. Another benefit is that we have access to grace in which we stand vs 2a.There is cause for rejoicing in hope, so that we can glory even in tribulations verses, 2b-4, and there is God’s love which He first demonstrated with the gift of His Son.
Finally, there is salvation from God’s wrath vs 9. All these are results of our reconciliation to God through the death of His Son, thus becoming the basis for our endless rejoicing.
Questions for discussion
- What is the real meaning of peace with God? Is there any difference between peace of mind and Peace with God? What are the other benefitsthat accompany justification?
- Does access into God’s grace mean that a believer will never suffer harm? Why should Christians rejoice in times of trials? Romans 5: 3-5? What purpose does suffering serve in a believer’s life?”
- How is our reconciliation to God a proof of His love for us? How does this serve as a model for us in pursuing reconciliation with all who have offended us or we offended?
Conclusion
Being justified is the first step in our Christian life. God expects us to grow andbear the fruits of justification in our daily life. Above all, we now have peace with God, hope in his glory, and joy even in sufferings. Are you truly enjoying the benefits of Justification?
Memory Verse: Romans 5:8 “But God proves his love for us in that while we still were sinners Christ died for us.”
